Your shirt costs more than my groceries do!!

 2013 Total Savings
Retail: $6,219.71
My Price: $1,615.26
Savings: $4,685.58 (75.33%)

2014 Total Savings (as of 1/13/14)
Retail: $1381.55
My Price: $189.22
Savings: $1,215.10 (87.95%)

And that's only half...

Let's get some facts straight before I begin!
  • I coupon for my household & my grandparent's/aunt's household!
    • That's 6 adults & a baby!
    • I donate to other families when I have excess items.
  • No, I'm not a hoarder! Hoarder's have dust, all my stuff is nice & organized!
  • No, nothing expires!
  • Yes, it takes time!
  • Yes, it's worth the gas to drive store to store because I get fuel perks! So while you paid $3.26 for gas yesterday I paid $2.20.
  • Yes, I will buy items that I don't need if it gives me overage because someone I know can and will be able to use it!
    • One Word: Vitamins!

Some people have called me crazy for couponing but I am a stay at home mom and couponing is one of the main reasons why I get to stay at home. Both are a full time job in themselves. Always on the lookout for the best deals, saving coupons to go with sales, and mapping out where to go and when. I have built my stockpile from a few items to shelving in two months so that my family won't have to run out to the store when we are out of something. That is the idea of stockpiling. It may take a few months to build up but it's so worth it. When we run out of sugar, I just grab another bag. When I run out of conditioner, to the stockpile I go.

While people are paying full price for an item I'm getting 6 items for less than the cost of what you paid for one. For example: Grape jelly is a necessity in the south. It runs $3+ a jar so when I find it cheap or practically free that when I stock up! Last week we got a $0.75/1 welch's natural grape jelly that doubled at Bilo to $1.50 off one jar. Well it just so happens it was buy one get one free (bogo) at $3.29 so $1.64 a jar! Instead of paying that price I used the coupon and got 8 jars for $0.14 each so I paid $1.12 for eight jars! That's a third of the original price! I refuse to pay full retail on majority of items.

While I do get some weird looks while I'm out, well who wouldn't stare at someone with a binder attached to a shopping cart with either a baby in a 'daddy pack' or being folllowed by my aunt pushing the baby in the stroller or pushing another cart on big hauls. It's all worth it. I love to share the joys of saving money and living a frugal life. I have started classes and will continue to teach throughout the year once I get them up and running.

The amount I'm spending isn't just me swiping my debit card. Like I said that's two households, one couponer. My aunt & 4 month old are my couponing buddies! Every weekend we are out and about getting the best deals! Driving to SC to the closest publix since that is by far my favorite store ever! They will pay you to shop there!
Getting paid to take 10 boxes of past out of the store!

You can laugh at me all you want and call me the crazy coupon lady but when you have to run to the store because you're out of laundry detergent and pay $7 for one bottle, you won't be laughing then. I'll be able to go to my stockpile and grab one of my bottles that I paid $1.16 for :)

If you are really interested in learning then contact me about when I will be hosting classes. But I will warning you, you have to put an effort into this because I'm not willing to do all the work for you. You will get much more out of this once you learn the basics and start saving money instead of just waiting for me to tell you what to buy. Once you are a couponer, you are part of the coupon community. Where you share the deals, share the run deals, clearance finds, so people can save the money too!

Saving My Family One Dollar At A Time

If you are my friend on Facebook or you follow me on Instagram then you know that I have started couponing. Every week we were getting these coupons and basically throwing them away. Even if I only save us $5.00 a week that's $5 we didn't have to spend but I've been saving a lot more than that. I'm in the process of writing a post on How To coupon and what I've found that works for my family. That will be coling in the next week probably on Monday after Sunday's inserts come in the mail.

I almost shop exclusively at Winn-Dixie for groceries since you can earn fuel perks which help you save while filling up.  You earn $0.05 for every $50 you spend, $0.10 for every $25 in baby items if you are part of the Baby Club, and then each week they have bonus fuel perks where you can earn between $0.03 and $0.25 on qualifying items. They also all last until the end of the next month and roll over on purchases. Why wouldn't you want to save on Gas?

I do shop on occasion at Publix because they have store coupons which you can stack with a manufacture coupon. Also, I shop at Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Dollar Tree. Dollar General & Family Dollar also have store coupons which lead to FREE items.
